What is the Malt Shop Memories Cruise?

The Malt Shop Memories Cruise is ready to set sail!

We’re dusting off those old 45s, turning up the jukebox and transporting you back to the birth of Rock n’ Roll. Twist and shout from morning until night to your favorite music from the 50s & 60s. Relive this wonderful era with a nostalgic, ocean cruise on the Carnival Inspiration from May 13 -17, 2010. This fun-filled trip will also include a stop in beautiful, sun soaked Cozumel.

And the best news? The music will be live, live, live! All your favorites like Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Lou Christie, Lesley Gore, Herb Reed & The Platters and The Original Drifters will perform for you in an intimate and personal setting. Disc jockey extraordinaire, Jerry Blavat, the Geator with the Heater, will be your host. He’ll be playing the platters that matter and having you dance all night long. Plus, you’ll get to mix and mingle with stars as they take this trip down memory lane with you.

Relive the best years of your life! Remember driving your 57 Chevy to the drive-in and meeting all your friends at the malt shop for a burger and a shake? The Malt Shop Memories Cruise will take place on the Carnival Inspiration, a floating resort equipped with two pools, hot tubs, a state of the art fitness center, a mini golf course, beautiful dining rooms, and 24 hour room service. While onboard, you’ll be taken back to a more innocent time - when your biggest worry was who to take to the school dance.

Are there any cruise discounts available?

  • Reservations paid in full by November 1, 2009, will receive a 5% discount.
  • A discount of $99 is available to children ages 14 years and under.
  • A discount of 5% to any active-duty military personnel (must Fax Military ID).
  • No combining of non-age related discounts is allowed.
  • Single Occupancy discount of $199. (See What if I Want to Book a Single Occupancy Cabin for details.)

What is the ship's itinerary?

Subject to change, the cruise itinerary is:

  • Thursday, May 13, 2010 - depart Tampa, FL on the Carnival Inspiration (approx 4:00pm ET) You must be on board by 3:00pm - Please plan your travel to the port accordingly
  • Friday, May 14, 2010 – Day at Sea
  • Saturday, May 15, 2010 – Cozumel 10:00am-6:00pm
  • Sunday, May 16, 2010- Day at Sea
  • Monday, May 17, 2010- arrive Tampa, FL (approx 8:00am ET)

It is not advised to book a flight any earlier than 12 noon on arrival date - Customs could delay debarkation.

Am I guaranteed access to all shows onboard?

Everyone is guaranteed admission to one nightly headlining show in the main lounge, allowing you to see all of the marquee performers over the course of the event. The rest of the event is run “festival style”, with multiple shows going on simultaneously.  All of these shows are general admission, so you’re welcome to come and go as you wish!

There are cases where capacity is limited, however, the artists perform multiple times during the cruise.

What does the price of the Malt Shop Memories Cruise include?

In addition to admission to all of the great shows and activities, the following are included in the price of your cabin:

  • Tickets to main lounge headlining concerts plus many more great shows
  • All meals (there's gourmet fare in the formal dining rooms, casual indoor and outdoor grills open for meals throughout the day and 24 hour room service)
  • Non-carbonated beverages (i.e. tea, juices, coffee)
  • Use of the ship's beautiful pools and giant waterslide (all with plenty of deck space to enjoy a cocktail and some great music)
  • Use of the ship's health and fitness center
  • Camp Carnival facilities if you're bringing children
    

Not included are:

  • Gratuities ($10 per person, per day will be charged to your onboard spending account)
  • Gambling
  • Spa
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Soft drinks (however, cards are available for a low price which get you unlimited soft drinks throughout the cruise)
  • Any meals, events or tours while in Cozumel
  • Airfare
  • Ground transportation
  • Cruise insurance

Will the entertainers be on board the whole time?

All of our artists are excited to join you on board all four days of the event, with a few exceptions; there may be some cases where an artist must join us during the trip or depart early due to schedule or family commitments.
