John Kuse and The Excellents

In 1962, The Excellents released their signature smash hit song Coney Island Baby. The song is often referred to as 'The National Anthem of Brooklyn'. The Excellents are one of the premiere groups on the circuit today. You will find them to be entertaining and versatile.

The group is comprised of: Original Lead singer John Kuse, Mal Bruntvedt, Joe Noto and Joe Cavanna. They possess a unique vocal style along with a song selection consisting of many classic Doo-Wop favorites as well as Broadway tunes which transcends into a great show.

The Excellents performed live on PBS channel 13 to help launch "Doowop 51" recorded live at The Benedum Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA in front of 2,700 enthusiastic fans. In 2007, The Excellents were part of "Doowop Love Songs" filmed at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Recently, The Excellents graced the stage at many popular venues including: The PNC Arts Center in New Jersey, DuPont Theatre in Wilmington Delaware, The American Music Theatre in Lancaster PA, The Northfork Theatre, Westbury Long Island and The New Beacon Theatre in New York City.
